Scandinavian brand Gubi are the treasure hunters of our generation. Based in Copenhagen's docklands, and fuelled by a passion to uncover overlooked icons from the past and future icons in the making, Gubi are a serious design force receiving international recognition for their work. The result is an eclectic, international collection that blurs the lines between the past and the future, chasing forgotten icons from the 30's to the 70's. Architect Louis Weisdorf (1939 -) believes his studio, "specializes in versatility", a phrase which characterises his long and eminent career. Since graduating from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts' School of Architecture in 1954, Weisdorf has worked with icons such as Verner Panton, Poul Henningsen and Le Klint.

Created in 1965 and first produced in 1967, and Louis Weisdorf's first product for Gubi, the Turbo Pendant is a beautifully sculpted piece, which combines free-flowing forms with a complex and sturdy structure. Inspired by the delicate Japanese rice paper lamp, but with a new strength and durability, the pendant appears to almost blossom with light. The outer curve consists of 12 similar aluminium spiralling lamellae that form a globe around the light bulb, whilst the vertical lamellae ensure the gathering of dust is minimal. Available in 2 sizes.
