Must have colours for 2018
Over the past 10 years I’ve gathered an abundance of knowledge in the interiors and furniture design industry. I’ve travelled to over 55 countries, lived in many, and I’ve been inspired by a myriad of cultures and experiences. Now, I want to share it all with you. Let’s talk about colour. It’s ingrained in The Longest Stay ethos and here are 6 hues that are set to drive products and interiors in 2018.
Deep Emerald
Green goes saturated with hints of teal for 2018, and it looks as sophisticated as ever! I love the Caprichosa sofa by Koket alongside the TS Gubi coffee table. Tone down these dark colours with tinted whites and soft neutrals, and finish the look with a dash of gold.
Apricot Orange
My kitchen is full of this vibrant hue, it isn’t very common but it works wonders with a black marble or granite top. I also have an antique chest – hinting at a burnt orange shade – from South Africa that I carried in the plane! The things we do for our love of interiors.

Clashing Purple Hues
According to Pantone, ultra violet is “a dramatic and provocative shade of purple that communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.” I saw lots of it in clashing tones a few weeks back at
Maison & Objet and I predict this will only get stronger.
Pale & Matte
It’s easy to gravitate towards colour during the winter months. I know, I do! Then, when spring arrives I’m ready for all those yummy pastels. However, pale and matte tones are the ideal complement to bright colours. You can go as big as a statement wall with Mineheart’s Arts & Crafts wallpaper. Or opt for Universo Positivo’s Moon coffee table or Atipico’s Kora vase in grey for something more subdued.
Terracota
A softer and earthier take on red, this hue features sunbaked pinks and raw clay tones. Its richness adds character to your interiors, and when introduced with home accessories like Oyuna’s Uno throws and the Holborn Rug by Asiatic, you’ve got yourself the perfect chill out space.
Remember, once you’ve chosen your statement furniture pieces, you can then select home accessories that bring the entire look together. This creates an everlasting ambience so you create a home so beautiful you’ll never want to leave it.
