Thomas Williams Dowdeswell – self taught using his father’s paintbrushes. He creates art driven by his interest in current affairs and human rights. Combining the issues surrounding the human condition with his love for early twentieth-century art movements, he has produced futuristic, geometric and highly fascinating detailed city scapes that aim to provoke conversation about society and the human form. Not only are Dowdeswell's painting rich in narrative, but also in colour and quality. He attempts “to convey an emotion by means of an arrangement of shapes, or planes, or colours”.

This oil painting mixes an array of bold colours to create an aesthetically bold piece. The artist, Thomas Dowdeswell, uses curved lines to form a face in the centre, seemingly showing an extreme emotional reaction, while juxtaposing this feature with bold geometric lines and shapes. Sorrow and Loss’ fantastic design will bring a touch of colour to any room you place it in!
